It's surprising (or not...) how must faster your Mastodon instance is when you do a cached media purge, and fix your rsync script to actually exclude + delete nonexistent files, instead of keeping the backup directory and live directory in sync (even in the wrong direction) πŸ˜‚

I mean to be fair - I'm not an experienced server admin, webdev, nor do I have rsync experience.

But also, it was a real dumbass move :p

As a new user who was having trouble logging in and seeing my feed, and also who knows very very little about the technical side of things, I appreciate your hard work! πŸ‘

@TheEnbyperor mine cleared so many but there's a cronjob to clear every week so it shouldn't have built up to begin with... so I'm thinking my faulty rsync script was essentially just undoing the cronjob results every time it did a cache clean πŸ˜‚
